After opening against the Sharks in Portland, the team will travel south to take on Paul Kariya, Temmu Selanne and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim the next night. On Saturday, September 23rd the Wild travels to Winnipeg Arena to face-off with a Northwest Division foe, the Vancouver Canucks. The following night the club plays one of the "Original Six" teams, the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The team then heads west to battle Vancouver and San Jose on back-to-back nights. The Wild returns home on Friday, September 29th to play its first game in the New Saint Paul Arena against Anaheim. The team concludes its pre-season schedule on Sunday, October 1st at the New Saint Paul Arena against Chicago.
All games will be broadcast on the Minnesota Wild's official flagship station, WCCO Radio (830 AM). Any preempted games will be heard on KSGS Solid Gold Soul (950 AM).

The 2000-2001 NHL schedule will be released in July. The Minnesota Wild will open training camp on Thursday, September 7th. The Minnesota Wild's inaugural regular season and NHL's 84th season opens on Wednesday, October 4th
