CELEBRATION OF AMATEUR HOCKEY
[August 19, 1999] -- The National Hockey League's (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that the club will present A CELEBRATION OF AMATEUR HOCKEY as part of the "U S WEST Face-Off '99" pre-season game between the New York Rangers and the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday, September 13th at Target Center. Several special events are scheduled to take place throughout the game as part of the Minnesota Wild's Celebration of Amateur Hockey. All fans wearing a hockey jersey to the game will receive a free Minnesota Wild souvenir. The Roseau High School Choir will perform the national anthem. Entertainment between periods will include a mite hockey game and other on-ice hockey action. In addition, the club will also be honoring the founder of the Mariucci Inner City Hockey Association, Kyle Peterson. As part of the club's Grass Roots Hockey Initiative, the Minnesota Wild along with the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department, the City of Saint Paul and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will be holding a hockey equipment drive at the game. Drop bins will be located around the Target Center's main concourse for equipment drop-off before, during and after the game.
